Fascia-focused Pilates mat class
Fascia-focused Pilates mat is a movement system that evolved from the work of J. H. Pilates. This movement form is designed to provide physical benefits throughout the lifespan while stimulating mental acuity and creating a sense of integrated, peaceful wellbeing. Information from current publications that address models of movement, the architecture and anatomy of fascia, and fascia-informed manual therapies has informed fascia-focused Pilates. Authors of these references include Phillip Beach, Graham Scarr, Daniele-Claude Martin, Jean-Claude Guimberteau, Carla Stecco, Jaap Van der Wal, Leon Chaitow, Thomas Myers and Robert Schleip. Movement sequences are practiced in side lying, supine, bridging, prone, seated, kneeling, standing and standing on one foot. Recommendations are made for clients with limited mobility. These movements do not require any props.
